Request for committee members
Both Angie Frith (Hon Secretary) and Gill Prophet (Hon Treasurer) will have completed their five-year term on committee in November. We need to identify successors in good time so please contact us on the usual e-mail address if you are interested in either of these positions.
Sad news from Clevedon
Ann Marsh has sadly passed away. Ann was the long-term partner of Pat Harding who died less than a year ago. No funeral arrangements are known at this time. Our condolences go out to her family and friends.
The committee has decided that the West of England Amateur Open Championship due to be played on 14th June unfortunately has to be cancelled this year. Anyone who has already entered will receive a refund.
After consulting various captains and county organisers the BDLGA Committee has sadly decided to cancel the Alliance League and the Scratch & Handicap Foursomes competitions for 2020.
We considered delaying the start for a few weeks or months but felt that it would be impossible to catch up with all the matches in a shorter period. Some teams would be compromised by rescheduled holidays and work hours so it would not be a true reflection of some teams’ abilities and therefore the league.
The winner of the West of England Amateur Open Ladies Championship played on 9th June 2019 at Bath Golf Club was Ellen Hume with an excellent gross aggregate score of 148.
The winner of the Costeloe Cup was Grace Bowen from The Worcestershire with an aggregate nett score of 147.
Thank you to Diney Costeloe for yet again generously sponsoring this prestigious event and also to both Gloucester and Somerset Ladies County Golf Associations for their additional sponsorship. For more information and full results please see the Open Championship page

Regarding buggies for those with a certificate/letter from their doctor (these should include the nature of the problem), the committee discussed the fact that some courses may be closed to buggies due to inclement weather, so it is important that the Team Captains are both aware that this may be a problem if the area has heavy rain overnight and the club team concerned may find it necessary to have a walking replacement ready at short notice.
